Now I admit, this issue doesn't really have any effect on me, I am Canadian, and as such am pretty much free to partake in a little bit of ganja if I so choose with little repercussion. This freedom I posses to choose whether or not I want to has not turned me into the stereotypical stoner, living on the couch and watching I Love Lucy reruns until 3am. In fact, i have never smoked it in my life, I don't care to. I also don't drink or smoke and I wouldn't snort cocaine if I was allowed to.
The issue that I want to discuss though is Pres. Obama's dismissal of a "fairly popular question" in his recent online town hall meeting. In the video he dismisses the question of whether marajuana should be legalized and implies that the audience he is addressing, who are concerned citizens if they are asking questions, are merely a few lonely pot-heads. It turns out the question wasn't just poular but was the highest ranked question asked.
I have another question for Mr.President, what are you afraid of? His dismissal of the subject is what offended me and as I stated he isn't even my leader. I can accept if he has a differing opinion to that over what turns out to be a major portion of the population, but his dismissal shows that his government isn't 'by the people for the people" but rather simply "by the people" . It is disappointing, I once championed his presidency from my icy stoop up here. "Now things will change" I would say, but I am starting to see not even the great Obama intends on running the country for the American citizens but rather for the Republicans.
He has made his presidency overly bipartisan which in my opinion is a mistake. You don't want to alienate the Republicans but the citizens of the United States gave him and his Democratic party a mandate to lead. Nothing will get done if he doesn't anger himself some of the right wing and stick to his platform despite the possible inter house conflict. Rule for the people Mr. President, not your fellow politicians.

ReplyDeleteActually, no he hasn't. Republicans have been sidelined for the designing of every bit of legislation that has been passed since he took office.

You're right on there. He hasn't kept any of his promises. He is definitely not leading for the people. He is a puppet of the Wall Street financiers. Nothing more.
I agree. Obama is definitely being dragged along by the nose by the Wall Street banksters.
ReplyDeleteThat he has.
